Manage your library entries
A library entry is a plugin published to the plugin library, the shared catalogue of plugins that projects have published. A plugin is a named bundle of what your AI coding tools work with: skills, agents, rules, MCP servers and plugin files. You publish an entry and its new versions from the daemon or Athenode Pro, as Publish a plugin describes. Everything else about an entry you published is managed in your Athenode account, in Athenode's web app at platform.athenode.com: its name, description and category, its public display, and unpublishing it.
An entry is managed by the Athenode account that published it. An entry that belongs to an organisation is managed by every billing administrator of that organisation. The entry of the standard Athenode plugin is managed by Athenode and appears in nobody's list.
| Detail of an entry | What you can set |
|---|---|
| Name | Up to 200 characters, unique across the whole library |
| Description | Up to 25,000 characters |
| Category | One of Programming, Testing & QA, Security, DevOps, Design, Productivity or Other |
| Public display | On or off, with Also show this entry on the public Athenode website |
Find the entries you published
My library publications lists every entry you can manage, with its state at a glance. You need to be signed in to Athenode's web app with your Athenode account.
- In Athenode's web app, open Account.
- Under Library publications, select View library publications.
The page lists your own entries under Your account, then the entries of each organisation you are a billing administrator of, each organisation under its own heading that starts with "Organisation:". Each row shows the entry's name and category, its slug, its current version as "Version" and a number, its public display, how many likes it has and how many times it was added to a project. Select an entry's name to open its page, where you edit or unpublish it. Until you publish something, the page says "No publications yet".
| Public display in the row | Meaning |
|---|---|
| "Shown on the public site" | Public display is on, and the entry is on the Athenode website at lib.athenode.com. |
| "Not on the public site" | Public display is off. Signed-in users see the entry in Athenode's web app. |
| "Excluded from the public site by an administrator" | An Athenode administrator banned the entry from public display, as After an administrator bans an entry describes. |
The page of an entry that is shown publicly also has a Public page link to its page on the Athenode website, with Copy next to it.
Edit the name, description or category
Edit an entry when you want it to read differently in the library, without publishing a new version of the plugin.
- Open the entry from My library publications.
- Select Edit.
- Change Name, Description or Category.
- Select Save.
Athenode confirms with "Library entry updated." The entry keeps its version and its content. The new details show in Athenode's web app at once and, while public display is on, on the Athenode website within six hours.
A name that another entry uses is refused with "Another library entry already uses this name. Choose a different one."
Turn public display on or off
Public display decides whether the entry is shown on the Athenode website, where anyone can read it without an account, and whether the daemon and Athenode Pro can find it. Public display of an entry describes what each audience sees.
- Open the entry from My library publications.
- Select Edit.
- Select Also show this entry on the public Athenode website to turn public display on, or clear it to turn public display off. The text under the checkbox says what becomes public.
- Select Save.
Warning
Turning public display on shows the entry's name, description and category and the full text of its skills, agents, rules and plugin files to anyone on the open web, and lets anyone install it, MCP server configuration included, with the CLI.
Selecting the checkbox is your confirmation, and Athenode asks nothing more. Turning public display on runs the content scan over the entry.
After you turn public display off:
- The entry leaves the Athenode website within six hours. Search engines may keep a cached copy for longer.
- The entry cannot be found, added or merged from the Library page of the daemon or of Athenode Pro, and
athenode usecannot install it. - Plugins that projects added from the entry get no updates. They get them again once public display is back on.
- Signed-in users see the entry, with its whole content, in Athenode's web app.
A new version that you publish keeps the public display the entry has. An entry whose public display is off stays off when you publish a new version, so turn it on here when you want the new version to be public.
Unpublish an entry
Unpublish an entry when you want it out of the plugin library altogether.
- Open the entry from My library publications.
- Select Unpublish.
- At "Unpublish this entry?", select Unpublish.
Warning
Unpublishing removes the entry and all its versions from the library. This cannot be undone.
Athenode confirms with "The entry was unpublished." and returns to the library list. The entry is gone from Athenode's web app and from the library of every daemon and Athenode Pro server at once, and it leaves the Athenode website within six hours. Search engines may keep a cached copy for longer.
The plugin you published from stays in your project. Plugins that other projects added from the entry keep working as ordinary plugins and receive no further updates. If you publish the plugin again later, that is the first publication of a new entry, at version 1, and it turns public display on as every first publication does.
Entries of an organisation
An entry that belongs to an organisation appears in My library publications of every billing administrator of that organisation, under the organisation's name. Each of them edits it, turns its public display on or off and unpublishes it with the same steps. When you stop being a billing administrator, the organisation's entries leave your list.
Deleting an organisation unpublishes every entry it owns.
After an administrator bans an entry
An Athenode administrator can ban an entry from public display, and the publisher is told by email with the reason. Reports and moderation describes the ban and the email. While the ban lasts:
- The entry's row in My library publications says "Excluded from the public site by an administrator", whatever its public display is.
- Edit says "Public display is unavailable for this entry." You can clear Also show this entry on the public Athenode website, and you cannot select it while it is clear.
- Name, description and category can be edited as before.
- A new version is published to the library only, and the publish page in the daemon or Pro says so before you confirm.
The ban does not change your public display setting. When an administrator lifts the ban, the setting you left in place takes effect again.
When your Athenode account is deleted
Your entries leave the Athenode website when you confirm the deletion of your account. If you cancel the deletion by signing in within the 30 days, they come back. After the deletion, the entries stay in the library for signed-in users of Athenode's web app and are no longer on the Athenode website. Your Athenode account describes the deletion.
Manage entries from your AI tool
From your AI tool, ask /atn:manage to change an entry's name, description, category or public display, or to unpublish it. The skill asks you before it turns public display on and before it unpublishes. The daemon must be signed in to your Athenode account, as Publish a plugin describes, and on Athenode Pro you sign in on the Library page.
Your AI coding agent does this with the tools library_edit and library_unpublish of the Athenode MCP server. library_edit turns public display on only with confirmPublic, and it finds your own entries whose public display is off.
