About Athenode
Athenode is a spec-driven development platform for teams that build software with AI coding agents. It turns one product spec into a detailed mind map, breaks it down into leaf specs small enough for a single agent run, and hands each one to your AI agent to implement — all driven from the CLI you already use.
Why Athenode exists
AI coding agents are good at implementing a well-defined task and bad at guessing what you meant. Most spec-driven development tools keep a spec on one machine and feed it to an agent one step at a time. Athenode keeps the whole plan — from the product idea down to the smallest implementable piece — in one shared tree of specifications that your team plans, reviews and tracks together.
How it works
- Mind-map a feature with
/mindmap-specification: researched question rounds turn a rough idea into a detailed specification. - Decompose it with
/decompose-specificationinto stages and leaf specs, each linked to the specs it depends on. - Apply it with
/apply-specification: your AI agent plans, implements, reviews and commits each leaf, and progress shows up in the app.
Read the Getting Started guide to set up your first project.
Works with the tools you already use
The Athenode CLI (npx @athenode/cli init) installs your team's agent setup — agents, skills, rules, MCP servers and AGENTS.md — into 9 AI coding tools, including Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, GitHub Copilot and Kiro. See Supported AI tools for what each tool gets.
Your code stays in your repository
Your AI tool works on your code locally. Athenode stores your specifications and agent setups and, for each implemented spec, the paths of the changed files and a short summary of what was done. Payments for paid plans are processed by Paddle.
