Your account
An Athenode account is the email address and password you sign in to the web app with. One account gives you access to every project you created or were invited to, and it has no plan of its own, because plans belong to projects.
Your account settings are on the Account page, which opens from Account in the user menu. The same menu holds the Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy and Log out.
Sign up to create your first project or to join a project you were invited to. An account is free.
- Open the Athenode sign-in page and choose to create an account.
- Enter your email address and a password. The password has at least 8 characters and differs from your email address.
- Accept the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. Optional: select the checkbox to receive product updates by email.
- Select Create account.
- Open the verification email that Athenode sends and follow its link. Your account works once the address is verified.
You are signed in and see the Projects page. Projects describes creating your first project.
Your email address is your sign-in name and cannot be changed on the Account page. If you were invited to a project, sign up with the address the invite was sent to, as Invite and manage members describes.
Sign in, sign out and reset a forgotten password
Sign in on the sign-in page with your email address and password. To sign out, open the user menu and select Log out.
If you forgot your password, use the forgotten-password link on the sign-in page. Athenode emails you a link, and you set a new password there.
When a session ends while the web app is open, the web app says "Your session has expired. Please log in again." Sign in again to continue.
Change your name
Your name is what other members see in a project's member list and on the project tokens you create. The Account info section above it shows your Email and the date under Member since.
- On the Account page, go to the Name section.
- Enter your First name and Last name, up to 100 characters each.
- Select Save.
Change your password
Change your password on the Account page when you know the current one. If you do not, reset it from the sign-in page.
- On the Account page, go to the Password section.
- Enter your Current password.
- Enter the New password and repeat it under Confirm new password. The new password has at least 8 characters and differs from your email address.
- Select Save.
The page confirms with "Your password has been changed." You stay signed in in the browser you used, and Athenode signs you out everywhere else. Your project tokens keep working.
Choose whether to receive marketing emails
On the Account page, the Marketing preferences section has one checkbox: "I would like to receive product updates and marketing communications from Athenode by email." Select it or clear it at any time. The choice is saved as you make it.
Emails about your account and your projects, such as a verification email, an invite or an account deletion link, do not depend on this choice.
Change your cookie choices
Athenode asks for your cookie choices the first time you visit. To change them later, select the Cookie settings button in the web app's sidebar.
The cookie preferences have three categories. Necessary cookies make the web app work and cannot be turned off. Analytics and Marketing cookies are used only with your consent. Select Accept all, Reject all, or switch the categories individually and select Save preferences.
Delete your account
Deleting your account ends your access to Athenode. You request the deletion, confirm it from an email, and 30 days later the account is deleted for good, together with the projects you own alone.
- On the Account page, go to the Delete account section and select Delete account.
- Read the Delete account? dialog. It lists every subscription you pay for, by project and plan.
- Select Send confirmation email.
- Open the email with the subject "Confirm account deletion" and follow its link within 20 minutes.
Athenode shows "Deletion confirmed" and your account is scheduled for deletion in 30 days. All of your project tokens are deleted at this moment, in every project, so your Athenode CLI and AI agents lose access.
If the link has expired, return to the Account page and select Resend email.
Cancel an account deletion
You cancel a deletion by using the web app. Before you follow the link, select Cancel deletion request on the Account page, or open any other page of the web app. During the 30 days after you confirmed, sign in to the web app.
Your account, your projects and your memberships are then as you left them. The project tokens that were deleted when you confirmed are not restored, so create new tokens and run init again where you need them.
To let a deletion go ahead, follow the link in the email before you open another page of the web app, and stay signed out for the 30 days.
What the final deletion does
After the 30 days the account is deleted. This cannot be undone.
| What you have | What happens to it |
|---|---|
| A subscription you pay for | It is cancelled immediately, without a refund. |
| A project you own that has other members | It passes to another member: an editor before a viewer, and among members with the same role the one who joined first. The project moves to the Free plan. |
| A project you own alone | It is deleted with its specifications, ToDo cards, agent setups and project tokens. |
| A project you were invited to | You leave it. The project and what you wrote in it stay. |
| Setups you published to the setup library | The entries stay in the library. Unpublish them before you delete the account if you want them removed. |
| Specifications, ToDo cards and other content you wrote | They stay in their projects. Your name is replaced by "Inactive user". |
To keep a paid period you have already paid for, cancel the subscription and delete the account after the project has moved to the Free plan. To choose who receives a project you own, leave that person as its only editor before the 30 days end.
